Open Text to acquire Gauss

Open Text announces it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Gauss, a move that will add significant Web content management and business process management solutions to Open Text's Livelink suite and its integrated collaboration and content management capabilities.

Gauss is considered one of Europe's leading developers of Web content management software and has headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, and Irvine, Calif. Through its Irvine office, Gauss provides integrated document and output management software for ERP systems. These products automate processes such as invoicing, ordering and insurance claims, allowing customers to convert large volumes of paper into electronic documents via imaging technology and processing them through highly structured workflows, the company explains. The company adds that it will continue to support Gauss' document and business process management unit while integrating the offering within Livelink.

Open Text also recently introduced Livelink UNITE Anywhere, which is said to make all the capabilities of Livelink easily accessible within any commercially available portal. The company says customers can easily create tailored window views in a portal that offers access to Livelink's collaborative tools, work spaces and content, extending the portal's capabilities and improving enterprise content integration, Open Text says.
