Managing contently, completely

Stellent's Content Management 7.0 is claimed to be the only solution supporting each aspect of content management--document, Web content, collaboration, records and digital assets--within a single, common product architecture.

Version 7.0 takes full advantage of Stellent's core content management platform to offer built-in records management functionality that enables users to manage disposition and retention schedules for electronic and physical records. Further, says Stellent, Version 7. will comply with the U.S. Department of Defense 5015.2 standard, which defines the basic requirements that must be met by records management application products acquired DoD by the and its components based on operational, legislative and legal needs.

The new version includes an optional high-volume repository that supports large volumes of content for imaging and digital asset management applications. Version 7.0 also offers workflow functionality for business processes to enable users to route forms, scanned documents and images through workflows.

Stellent says additional new features include:

  • simplified workflow interface--making it easier for business and non-technical users to participate in workflow processes;
  • schema management--allowing users to more easily manage relationships between metadata fields and connect to other data sources;
  • image conversion--permitting users to resize and transform images to different formats without needing to use heavy publishing tools;
  • directory rollover--supporting multiple security directories and enabling Stellent Content Management to search for user profiles and other security-related information across multiple directories based on priority settings;
  • enhanced enterprise management--enabling automatic application replication and lights out installation;
  • expanded XML functionality--integration with Corel XMetaL enables users preferring to work in XML to create content using XML authoring tools and store it in Stellent Content Management; and
  • a simplified pricing model--priced per number of servers and number of contributors, with additional pricing for each of the five content management application modules (no charge for content consumers or workflow participants).
